About
My name is Margaux Burgess
After more than twenty years working across hospitality, wine education, and the trade, I’ve had the opportunity to taste widely, travel to wine regions, and build relationships with producers whose wines truly reflect their place of origin. Again and again, I found myself thinking the same thing: these are the wines I want to be drinking at home in Canada and the wines I want our market to have access to.

In 2023, I founded The Swirl Wine Imports to help change that. The Swirl is built around working with producers who have a strong sense of regional identity and a commitment to quality farming and winemaking. My goal is to connect those producers with Western Canada's vibrant community of retailers, sommeliers, and hospitality professionals who are looking for wines that bring both authenticity and value to their shelves and lists.

Rather than chasing trends, the focus is on building sustainable relationships, supporting the market through education, events and tastings, and helping great wines find the right home in the market.
The best wines in the world shouldn’t only be discovered while travelling, they should be available to those shaping the wine culture right here in Alberta.
